If you are a crocheter who is looking for market bestsellers, you’ve come to the right place! Now that I’ve done over a dozen markets and craft fairs, I’ve found there are certain things that sell really well, and some that don’t sell quite as well.
It’s always a little disappointing when something I’m really excited about and had a lot of fun making doesn’t go over very well with the market crowd. Luckily there are many crochet patterns that I’ve found that are fun and easy to make, and they sell really well at markets.
(Read to find out how my Crochet Journey Began!)
When you’re planning what to crochet for your markets, I would suggest focusing mostly on small to medium sized items, because they’re going be in the price range for most people to be able to purchase. However, I would definitely include some larger and higher priced items, because there will be big spenders too! I once had a mom and little boy grab my two largest items to purchase without ever looking at the price tags…then they came back around and spent another $30 on other items.
My personal preference is to make sure I’m stocked up on my market bestsellers, which I’m listing out for you below. But I don’t ever limit myself to only making certain items. My favorite part about crocheting is trying out new patterns, and I would get so bored if I only ever made the same 5 things! I know some people prefer to only make what they know will sell, but that is most definitely not me. So my booth is set up with different theme displays, like Under the Sea, Barnyard Buddies, Woodland Friends, Prehistoric Playland, etc. That way I’m not limited to what I can make, and everything has a place!
That being said, there are certain plushies that I make sure I always have a stockpile of, because they’re guaranteed to sell at markets. Read on to find out which items will always be included in my inventory, because they are my current market bestsellers!
Chicks in Eggs
by Cozy Hooked Creations

These little cuties work up so quickly – I can make 2 in about an hour, and they sell like crazy at craft fairs! Kids love to open and close the little shell and parents love them because they’re affordable. They’re a great option for parents to buy a little something for their kids that doesn’t cost too much.
What you need:
- Crochet Chick in Egg pattern
- Plush yarn in 3 colors – one for the egg, one for the chick, and one for the beak (I used Big Twist Posh for these, but it’s currently unavailable)
- Fluffy yarn for the top feathers (I use Bernat Pipsqueak in Whitey White)
- 6 mm safety eyes
- Yarn scraps or Poly-fil to stuff with
- Your favorite crochet hook – I use Susan Bates I9 (5.50 mm) with size 5 bulky yarn
Potted Plant & Flower Friends
By Minnie’s Crochet Friends
These definitely get the most comments and giggles! Aside from being utterly adorable and unique, I think they’re market bestsellers because they are so giftable. Most often, adults buy these for their friends and family members as gifts.
I love making these potted flowers and plants because there are so many different varieties that it doesn’t feel like I’m doing the same thing over and over again. And they work up pretty quickly – I can finish most in about 1 hour (though some of the plants with a lot of leaves take a little longer).

What you need:
- Any combination of the following crochet patterns:
- Your favorite plush yarn (I used Big Twist Posh, which is currently unavailable)
- Black worsted weight yarn for the mouth and stitched eyes
- Safety eyes – I use these Kawaii safety eyes
- Yarn scraps or Poly-fil to stuff with
- Your favorite crochet hook
Adopt-a-Cat
This recipe for market bestsellers is a simple one: make a lot of cats. Put them in a cage-like structure or a cardboard box and make a sign that says “Adopt a Cat.’ Shoppers cannot resist! The nice part about this is that you can use any cat pattern(s) you want – and there are tons of them out there!

Mallards
To be fair, I live in the midwest, where hunting is life. I don’t know if these would be a market bestseller n other areas of the country, but they’re a huge hit here in Minnesota!
I make my mallards in 3 different sizes using 3 different patterns. The medium ones sell the best – most likely because of the price point. Check out how adorable they are:
