Nice to meet you!
My name is Amy and I am the creator of Cuddlebugs Yarnworks, where we specialize in handmade crochet plushies, blankets, and all things cute! I’m really excited to bring my small business to the digital world. I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. I’m a teacher, the mother of two teenagers, and a wife. I am also, officially, a crochet addict.
My crochet journey began a few years ago – I actually started with knitting. I took a class and did that for awhile. But it was SO frustrating when I would drop a stitch and have to undo rows and rows of work to fix it. Then I discovered that in crochet, if you drop a stitch, it’s just. one. stitch. So much easier. I guess you could say I was hooked! For the first few years, I only made blankets.
Our first market
In the summer of 2024, my daughter (Monroe) my mother-in-law (Mary), and I decided to see if our handmade crochet and knit items would sell. So we signed up for a local art market that ran every Saturday morning. We discovered that our stuff did, in fact, sell!

Here’s a picture from our very first art market that summer. Our setup that first day was an 8×8 camping tent and 2 tables that we covered with fitted crib sheets. We had NO idea what we were doing. We didn’t even bring anything to stake down the tent. It was atrocious, but we had so much fun! Here’s a peek at how it looked:

my handmade crochet plushie obsession begins!
Monroe loves making handmade crochet plushies and Mary knits baby sweaters, booties, and hats (among other things). I focused on blankets. But one week, Monroe sold out of her plushies, so she asked me to help her make more. I will tell you, my whole world changed that week! Making plushies became my instant obsession. It’s so satisfying to complete a project in just a few hours, versus blankets that take weeks (or months!) to complete.
Over the course of the summer and into the fall, we upgraded our displays. We learned lots of tips and tricks about the market scene. We had a blast listening to people ooh and ahh and giggle over our creations. Almost every week, at least one little girl would visit our booth and tell us she was learning to crochet. My favorite part was when kids walked up with a handful of money and ask what they could buy. The excitement when they found something for $5 or $7 was the best!
Here are a few of the displays at our most recent market (over Black Friday weekend):

Still not perfect, but we made a lot of upgrades over those first few months!
What motivates me when i crochet
Many people told us our products were underpriced, that we weren’t charging nearly enough. And maybe they’re right…but I’d rather see the delight in a kid’s eyes when they find out they have enough money to buy a plushie from us. For me, the hours I spend crocheting are peaceful and joyful. Those oohs and aahs at markets fill me up. Obviously I want to make a profit (and I do!). But I don’t worry about how long it takes me to make something or how much I should get paid for my time. Because I’m in it for so much more than that!
And that’s ultimately why I’m here, creating this website. I want to be able to share my passion for crochet and spread joy. Yes, hopefully this venture will help me bring in a few more dollars that can fuel this obsession of mine. Honestly though, I just crocheting so much that I need an outlet to share it with the world.
I hope you’ll join me on this journey. Whether you’re someone who loves our products and wants to stay in the loop (hop on over to the store to shop!), or a crocheter who is looking for inspiration (check out my blog posts!), I hope you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for here.
Cheers!
Amy
